book-icon

Hyperhidrosis is the excessive secretion of sweat by the sweat glands, in addition to the amount required for normal thermoregulation. It is distinguished in the generalized and in the focal and may be the result of some ailment or idiopathic. It occurs most often in the palms and armpits, but can also affect the whole body and head. Hyperhidrosis has a negative effect on the physiological, psychological and professional lives of patients, in whom there is a decrease in their quality of life.

Today, Dermatology today provides very effective treatments for primary focal hyperhidrosis, most notably the injection of botulinum toxin Type A (botox – dysport). Botulinum toxin temporarily inhibits neural stimulation of the sweat glands, leading to a significant reduction in sweating) and is a safe and effective treatment for all forms of focal hyperhidrosis, such as armpit, Palm, foot and facial hyperhidrosis. Other types of treatments include topical deodorants and antiperspirants, iontophoresis, anticholinergic drugs, and finally, surgical sympathectomy.
