Hair Loss

book-icon

The average adult’s head has 100,000 to 150,000 hairs and loses up to 100 of them daily. Each hair has its own life cycle, which is influenced by age, stress, various diseases and many other factors. We recognize three phases in its life cycle:

  • Anagen phase: lasts 3-5 years and is the growth phase.
  • Catagenic phase: lasts about 1-2 weeks and is the period of weakening and “preparing” the hair for its fall.
  • Telogen phase: lasts about 2-4 months and is the phase of hair fall. The root (follicle) however still exists and so after some time the hair regrows.

Alopecias (hair loss) are classified into:

  • Scarring, i.e. alopecia that leave scars after their completion (e.g. in lupus erythematosus, lichen Bursa, etc.).
  • Non-scarring alopecia, such as androgenetic type (baldness), telogen trichorrhea, seasonal hair loss and alopecia areata.

Early diagnosis and treatment contributes drastically to maintaining the quality and health of hair. The treatments are personalized and extend from topical treatments to creams, lotions, shampoos etc. up to injectable treatments with topical corticosteroid infiltrates, mesotherapy with hyaluronic acid, vitamins, peptides and growth factors and autologous mesothrapy.
